If Monsters, Why Cute?

Josuiji Shinri, Field Reporter of Guild TEMPUS and a member of Holostars English, fights monsters for a living.  One day, he receives an envelope under his door with an essay suggesting that monsters could be persuaded to cooperate through love, not violence.  Shinri, feeling encouraged, takes this advice to heart as he goes about his work as a monster hunter.

"If Monsters, Why Cute?" is a visual novel created in Ren'Py about Shinri's attempts to fulfill quests for his guild and the monsters he meets during those quests.  It is a fairly linear game that takes about 2.5 hours to complete.  The game features six friendly monsters (or does it?) and has a variant/secret ending.

QUICK MENU:

This game's quick menu appears as a set of small circular buttons above the right side of the dialogue box.  The quick menu buttons are as follows:

H: shows the history/backlog of your playthrough

Arrow: skips through content on the screen (what it skips can be modified in the Options menu)

S: accesses the Save menu

L: accesses the Load menu

Cog: accesses the Options menu

X: removes the dialogue box and quick menu so you may view the full art behind them.  Click forward (mouse button or spacebar) to return the dialogue box to view so you may continue the game.

CONTENT WARNINGS: 

"If Monsters, Why Cute?" contains character death and references to character death, ghosts, monsters, the undead, minor violence, mild sexual innuendo, and minor romance.  If any of these topics are sensitive or unmanageable for you, please do not open the game.
